Children's Reading Spaces & Libraries

Children’s Reading Spaces (CRS) was developed under the direction of Palestine Writing Workshop (PWW) to promote free and creative reading opportunities for the youth in Bethlehem.  

Through PWW, CRS programming offers book club type reading experiences to 10th and 11th graders in governmental schools in the Bethlehem area.  Often this is the first "reading for pleasure" experience for these students.  Since books are not often found in homes and very few bookstores are available, the CRS program supplies Arabic language books to these youth.

CRS also offers programs to emerging readers and their parents.  These programs focus on storytelling and puppet shows that take place through the Bethlehem area, including small villages.  The goal of these reading programs is to enrich the imagination of the children of Bethlehem and present opportunities for the children to express themselves.
